Taken by Vikings

It's a rare weekend here in Minnesota. The firearms deer opener actually coincides with the Vikings bye week. Woe to deer statewide. Normally, they are given a 3-4 hour reprieve on the Sunday of deer opener while hunters retire indoors to watch the game. Not this weekend. I wonder if opener harvest numbers will be up, even a smidgen, due to lack of local football on TV? Vikings coach, Brad Childress, talking about the bye week, even (sort of) commented on the fact that Vikings players could participate in deer opener for once if they wanted:

“Whether they are going to sit in a deer stand or sit on the beach or contemplate their navel, whatever it is that they care to do, they are free to do as long as they are back here on Monday,” Childress explained.
